Handling a friend who takes advantage of your kindness

As a friend, you always want to be there for your loved ones in need - but what if you have a friend who is constantly asking you for favors? It might be acceptable to handle one or two things for an individual in need, especially if you can easily fit it into your schedule.

However, we all know someone who pushes the limit. What do you do if you have a friend who is taking advantage of your kindness?

While it can be difficult to do, the first obvious course of action is to say "no" to his or her requests. It may come as a shock to the person, especially if you regularly say "yes" to favors. However, declining the request may help you re-establish the boundaries of your friendship.

If you can't find it in yourself to flat-out say "no" and walk away, sit down with your friend and express your concerns. Doing so can prevent the problem from growing out of proportion.
